Piloto Cubano is a tobacco variety that originated in the town of Piloto, in the Pinar del Rio region of Cuba. There is a mystery as to how it arrived in the Dominican Republic - either it was received in letters stuffed with cotton by Tobacco farmer Jose Mendez, or, the seed was brought directly over by a mysterious immigrant named Santorini.
