Description
This Corojo 99 Ligero was grown in the Dominican Republic in 2015. The leaf is a deep mahogany reddish brown and delivers a robust flavor with malty sweetness and notes of cedar, nutmeg, and white and black pepper. The smoke is thick, earthy, and full-bodied—ideal for those who enjoy a strong, flavorful cigar.
The 1940s Corojo was a tremendous success for cigar construction and is one of the tobacco leaves of legend. Because of its poor resistance to pest and mold, and inefficacy, it failed. Criollo 98 and Corojo 99 are the most similar hybrid varieties to thrive, now transplanted onto Latin American soil and island nations like the Dominican Republic.
Ligero is taken from the topmost priming of the plant and has the highest nicotine content and thickest leaves among the Corojo 99 filler varieties.
As with all Whole Leaf Tobacco products, the leaf is shipped in vapor-proof bags and arrives in proper condition for working. Unopened, the leaf will remain fresh for at least a year. To preserve unused leaf after opening, reseal the original packaging with tape.
