Description
This Corojo 99 was grown in 2015 in the Dominican Republic from Cuban seed. This leaf is a deep mahogany reddish brown. It has a malty sweetness with notes of cedar, nutmeg and white and black pepper. The smoke is thick, full bodied, earthy and smooth. Corojo 99 is a robust full flavored tobacco —a strong flavor to remember.
In the 1940s Corojo was a tremendous success for cigar construction. Criollo 98 and Corojo 99 are the most similar hybrid varieties to thrive, now transplanted onto Latin American soil and island nations like the Dominican Republic.
This leaf is taken as the Viso Priming (about eye height) so expect more nicotine and less combustibility than the Seco priming, but less nicotine than the Ligero .
As with all Whole Leaf Tobacco products, the leaf is packaged in vapor-proof bags and in perfect order for working when it arrives. The leaf will remain in perfect condition for at least a year if unopened. Once opened, any unused leaf can be preserved by folding the opened end and sealing it with tape.
