I use to see them in http://www.alibaba.com there are several versions ,motorized, etc but they are very expensive.

Actually, Bob, the belted feed mechanism ain't too bad an option if you're running loose leaf, as opposed to compressed bricks.
Yah, brute force applied to things is always kinda scary! lol

The rotary blades have always seemed better to me, than the gate type guillotine blade reciprocating motion.

The best home-built production shredder I have seen to date was a reel type lawn mower with a 1/2hp electric motor for power.
It did not include a feed mechanism, though.

I've seen a previous versions of this in a video,they were made with a wood box and a circular knife. but I couldn't find the video again

That chain feed probably can't draw in your hand past the elbow, so there should be plenty of arm left to mount a prosthesis.
