Big gem plants in Arkansas.

When should big gem plants be topped , and when should they be hervested?
Mine are about 3 and a half feet tall and no seed heads yet.
Could use some info!

haven't grown Big Gem, but undoubtedly, no different than any other strain.
Top when 20% to 50% of the plants have blooms - open or not (depending on your patience)
Cut off the buds/blooms, along with the smaller leaves at the top of the plant.
Upper leaves remaining should be larger than 8 to 12 inches in length.
You want all the plant's energy going to maturing and ripening the remaining leaves.

Within a week or so, the plant will start sending out suckers - break these off. It's the plant still trying to reproduce a new stem for new buds/flowers, and you don't want that.

If you want get seeds - let the plant continue to bud and flower. Bag the blooms before the blooms open, to prevent cross-pollination. Leave the bagged flowers on the plant until the flowers have dropped, and the seed pods are fully mature and dried brown.

i grew them last year,,,and they got extremely tall,,,,

over 7 foot, shoot, id say they got 9 foot, easily,

i had to grab the plant and pull it over, to do top matinence, on them

i'd top at 6 foot,

If you was in new york i'd say get a rope, but beings how your a neighbor Id say I don't know what to tell ya.
