Just jotting things down while getting some soil started. So far this tote contains:

1/2 bag (1.5 cubic foot bag) Master Garden Premium Garden Soil
1 3/4 bags (12 quart bag) Jiffy Organic Seed Starting Mix
4 bags (1 gallon bag)Wakefield Compost + Biochar

The last of some Golden Seal burley seeds and a red pepper that took 3 weeks to sprout, everything sprouted on Jiffy Organic Seed Starting Mix:

Seeds sprinkled on the 5th, except for the Golden Seal burley that hasn't been moved to a cup:

All the Cherry Red plants in buckets started showing signs of manganese deficiency. After a few feedings with these three all the plants look much better. The two Cherry Reds I put into the ground are still looking good but haven't shown much growth, possibly due to how dense the clay soil is back there.

The 4 biggest Corojo 99 plants finally went from 3x3 starter cups into some 12" planters filled with a new bag of Master Garden Premium Garden Soil. The soil tests at about 7.3 pH so I sprinkled some fast acting sulphur on top, the fish fertilizer really drops the pH level of water so between the two I'm hoping it will lower the pH of the soil. And if it doesn't, this will basically be a passive hydroponics system where the roots absorb nutrients from pH corrected water that's held by the soil. I'll get pictures of all the plants later today

Family photo. The Cherry Reds got away from me and are a little low on nitrogen at the moment. The Corojo 99 did too while they were in starter pots before moving to these green and black pots

Prilep in the bluish pot and terracotta colored pot. I'll have to get a better picture but the one in the middle is either two plants or it split into two stalks right below the surface of the dirt.

Only the plants in buckets have cocoa hull mulch on top

Last Wednesday or Tuesday I started pulling the bottom leaves off of the Cherry Reds in buckets and strung them up, along with one of the Prilep plants and the one that split into two

Yesterday I pulled some more and strung up the last Prilep plant. A few smaller leaves had to be pulled down because they dried green

Not pictured is the one Corojo 99 plant I chopped and strung up. None of them even reached two feet but the lower leaves have started to lighten. The Cherry Red plants in buckets and the three in buckets I put into the ground have significantly thicker leaves that aren't as uniform in shape as the two that went right in to the ground. The ones in the ground are as tall as me and have much larger leaves but are just now showing signs of ripening on the lower leaves

Got some Cherry Red leaves strung up with the rest of the stubby Corojo 99 plants, then hung the top halves of the Cherry Reds.

The two Cherry Reds that went straight into the ground are thriving back here, about 6' tall and nice wide leaves. The three on the right I'll probably just chop and toss since they got a bit too much nitrogen in my attempt to correct them when they got away from me. The other Cherry Reds in buckets seemed fine.

Aphids are making a last minute attempt on one of the Prilep plants hanging up.

An interesting development, the shower vent fan alone is able to keep the temperature at this point. With the crock pot unplugged the temperature was continuing to rise and got up to 101F before I realized the fan was producing that much heat on its own. For now the fan is plugged into the heating side of the temperature controller outlets and the crock pot sits and waits for its time
