Hi guys, quiet new here although registered time ago, was due to health issues inactive, now ready to put some seeds in:)

I would need advice on how to grow on balcony, how do I start at all, are there any good threads with how to treat the seeds as received from store? Like keep indoors in yoghurt cups meanwhile it's still colder weather outside or so? Put 1 seed only to one cup?

- need this basics first

- I would like to try DIP as I am almost exclusively snus user be it bags or loose, but the American DIP is impossible to get in Czech republic that annoys me a lot, really would love to try it and dig into this stuff deeply

- I watch Outlaw on YouTube, but haven't found any useful info except of some funny reviews and him trying Swedish strong snus...

- Will be happy if You guys help me with a tobacco seeds types I can grow on average balcony that isn't too big but would be a good choice for making a DIP

- Also please, be so kind, do not hesitate to share Your own experiences, receipts, opinions...

I'm very courious if I can make something good at home:)

I love gardening and as I smoke ocassionaly too, I'd maybe post one other question later, but trying to move to SNUS and so far quiet succesfull

- I use tobacco products since youth, cigarettes, pipe tobacco...I love this plant products and would be awesome to prepare something myself with help of Yours:)

Cheers from Czechia!

Welcome back. Begin by reading the New Growers' FAQ, linked in the menu bar. Then scan through the topics in our Index of Key Forum Threads, also linked in the menu bar. Near the top of the Key Forum Threads, you will find a link to download a free book (pdf) on Snuff, Snus and Chew. Feel free to start your own grow log for 2025 in the Grow Blogs forum.

American dip is usually a mix of burley and dark-air cured/fire cured tobacco.

For a balcony grow- I would go with the strongest burley I could get. And it’s going to be a big plant (depending on the container size). I’d go with KY17.

For a dark air/fire cured, I would go with Small Stalk Black Mammoth: strong, good flavor, and it was easy to manage in containers (for me).

Welcome!
