I have been smoking cigars for about 3 years. At least 1 a week. Sometimes 1 a day. Anyway I rolled my own using tobacco from leaf only. Imagine that's frowned here. Anyway. I smoked my first one I rolled last night it was still alittle to moist didn't burn real good. Had to keep relighting it. Anyway today about 12 hours later I still have an after taste like burnt toast. It started about an hour after smoking the cigar. The cigar was enjoyable with no funny taste. What causes this. I havent experienced this in the last three years at all. Also I was a cigarette smoker for around 30 years. I have that up 9 years ago. Anyway. Just curious. The blend I used was Mata Fina binder. CT maduro wrapper. 1 Dominican ligero. And 3 Nicaraguan seco.

Regardless of the blend used, start with:
  • filler in low case (noisy, feels dry, but doesn't crack too much when bunched)
  • binder in medium case (sounds like handling vinyl, fully flexible, but seems dry and may hold some wrinkles)
  • wrapper in high case (quiet, fully flexible, fully stretchable, seems somewhat damp--not wet)
Then allow it to dry more if the wrapper feels cool and damp. Smoking wet filler always tastes icky. Instead of fully combusting, you're getting partially burnt leaf fumes.
