Food Steamer To Make Cavendish?

G'day everyone.
I've been growing a dozen Burley plants this year & have started harvesting and drying leaf.

It will probably have too much nicotine for my needs so I've been thinking of turning it into Cavendish.

Would this food steamer serve the purpose to 1, turn into Cavendish. 2. Would it reduce the nicotine? ........ The pic does not have "an allowed extension", whatever that means, so can't show a pic.

Making burley into Cavendish definitely softens the distinctive flavor and aroma of burley. It seems to have no effect on the nicotine concentration.

In a steamer, the process will require a minimum of 5 hours, perhaps up to 8 or 10.

Thanks guys. So I'll have to soak the dried leaf in distilled water to remove nicotine before I steam it then.

That would be 5-10 hours for Black Cavendish, yes?
Is it worth steaming some of the leaf for say just a few hours for a lighter coloured Cavendish or is turning it black the entire point of the process? [To achieve the maillard reaction]
