Here we go for my 2nd year of growing tobacco. I germinated the seeds (corojo 99, criollo 98 and piloto cubano) on 1/4/2025.They seemed to take 2 days longer to sprout than last years habano 2000. Anyway Here they are after 1 week.

Here is 3 weeks in the criollo 98 seems to be doing really well. The corojo 99 and cubano piloto seem to be slow movers, but this is just the beginning maybe they grow once transplanted in the garden in 3 weeks

The pic on the left is the criollo 98 and the one on the right is corojo 99

Well I'm around 4 weeks in and the criollo 98 (pic on the right) is doing really well! The Piloto(pic on the left - front 12 pots) is not too far behind. I will take pics of the corojo 99 after work tomorrow and post them too. But criollo definitely seems to be performing the best.

Here are tobacco plugs at almost 5 weeks old. The criollo 98 is growing spectacularly! The piloto is not too far behind but the corojo 99 just seems to be a slow mover. I'm hoping that it's a grower not a shower once it's in the ground in around 2 weeks from today. My mother is doing an awesome job of looking after the plants whilst I'm on holiday for another 2 weeks.

Here is 6 weeks. Growing beautifully. Can't wait to get back to the uk in just over a week and transplant into the garden. The War between us and India is making it look like my flight maybe cancelled

Been growing for 6 and a half weeks with the leaves trimmed. My mother has done an awesome job of keeping the plugs healthy. Should be back from my holiday on Monday and then i will transplant into the garden Monday evening with a light dose of fertilizer.

Finally back from my holiday. I've just transplanted all my plugs out in the garden and in pots. They seem to be a bit yellow so I gave them a nice dose of high nitrogen fertilizer. Will see in a few days if it helps.

Been in the ground and bigger pots for nearly 2 weeks. Showing some very slow growth but I'm aware that usually for around 1 month after transplanting, tobacco plants are just laying down some roots. Hoping for some proper growth after a week or 2. The leaves are starting to get more greener i think that adding the high nitrogen fertilizer last week might have helped and the fact that we have only had 2-3 sunny days in the last 2 weeks. The rest of the days have just been miserable and rainy but on a positive note it means I haven't had to water them properly yet Haha. Mother nature might actually be working in tandem with my growing season this year.

A little over 3 weeks outside in the garden for these babies. The rain has been quite heavy for may/june time here in the UK but finally after a nice warm 25 degrees day my plants got the sunshine and warmth they have been yearning for. The corojo 99 in the pots is doing awesome!

Quick question does anyone know which of these fertilizers would be better for my plants once the flower starts to form? The low nitrogen has an NPK of 12.5:25:25 where as the high potash tomato feed has an NPK of 11:9:30.

I don't have any flowers yet (thank god) as I'm only 4 weeks into transplant. I already gave them a high nitrogen feed around 1 week or so ago so just wanted to know when the high potash should be given as I know without sufficient potash the combustibility of tobacco is highly affected.
Below are pics of my beauties at 4 weeks old.

North Carolina State University recommendations for farms. A soil test is helpful to know where you are and what you need to add.
