I’ve browsed this forum quite a few times. In the past few months I’ve been playing with making fruit based extracts for casing tobacco, mostly plum, date, apricot, raisin and fig and I’ve gotten some really great results. I’m interested in taking things further and letting my inner mad scientist out to play, so this seemed like a good place to hang out a little. So hello!

Greetings! This forum is an amazing place to gather information about most things tobacco. Your little experiments sound super yummy and fun. Btw Anytime you need a guinea pig or a taste tester I will gladly volunteer my services! lol
I am a cig smoker but through the years I have always enjoyed the addition of various herbs mixed in my tobacco. All the beautiful flavors and aromas can take an average cig to the next level! I've recently feel in love with Latakia and have been working on a blend that lets it shine while also enhancing the other tobacco it's blended with. I'm quite happy with the results thus far and find myself craving it often. It's just a great blend for when you want to take a moment to truely relax it def helps to float and clear the mind. It's also the perfect nightcap! Throughout this entire process of learning about and using whole leaf tobacco I've discovered that I am a bigger fan of the Orientles than I previously thought as I have really enjoyed every one that I have tried this far! The Turkish Samsun quickly became another fav and I've been working on blend to boost up its beautiful woodsy floral notes while also enhancing the other tobaccos in the blend. Anyway my point is that I could definitely see your fruity concoctions blending really well with the Orientals. I think they would be a great base for the flavors that you mentioned. But that's just my opinion! You can thank me later! Lol I am definitely looking forward to hearing more about your creations!

Sure, I’ve used dried fruit and picked ones that had the best possible flavor and smell and preferably no added anything.

My best results have used Everclear with the dried fruit chopped roughly, 3 parts fruit (grams) to 2 parts Everclear (ml), jarred in a ball jar and stored at room temperature for a minimum of three months with occasional light shaking/swirling around and drained off at the end. All have come out great, strong, full flavors. It has taken some experimenting to determine the correct amount to use. I have settled on one spray from a small spray bottle per 2.5 grams of tobacco as a good starting point, reduced when I want a hint of the flavor without it being immediately discernible.

I also did some with rum and raisins which came out nice too, but I used 80 proof rum. I think higher proof would have been better and I’m just now trying that out.

I’ve made extracts from plum, apricot, fig, date and raisin as I mentioned so far. I’m happy I did, the results have been fun overall.
