Im new to the art of growing tobacco as well as posting in a forum. I have questions on both. First what is a pm and how do I request seeds and second what kind of tobacco would grow best at 6000 ft. I can grow tomatoes very well and I have heard growing tobacco is like growing tomatoes. I could really use some direction. Thanks

Welcome, 1/157. Can I just call you 0.0063694267515923566878980891719745 for short?

You can probably grow any variety of tobacco you wish at 6000 ft. I think the length of the growing season will be more important. And yes, if you can grow tomatoes, you should be just as successful with tobacco.

Since the Rockies run from Canada to Mexico, it would be helpful for answering your questions if you added your location to your profile. [Click on My Profile, in the upper right, and add your location to your profile. It will then appear in each of your posts.]

A "PM" is a private message. Click on Private Messages, in the upper left. Send a PM to FmGrowit to request your seed.

You'll want to be starting your seed about 6 weeks prior to your average date of last frost.

Welcome 1/157. I am growing tobacco at 5500 feet and it dos not shiver or anything. plenty of time for the tobacco to mature in my growing season. actually got in a sucker crop from Monte Calm Yellow last year and we had a very late spring here. The weather did not really warm up here until almost July 1st. Tobacco was all harvested by the end of September.
