What is the difference between a Pipe Lighter and a Regular Lighter? I think the Pipe bug has bitten me and I haven't even smoked my first pipe yet. LOL

Pipe lighters are designed to help keep from burning the rim of the bowl.

Zippo pipe lighter.

Pipe lighters usually aim the flame out the side to make it easier to point down into the bowl. Some will also have tools built into them too. If I'm going to sit down and enjoy a whole pipe I like to use a wooden match some times, but other than that I'll stick to my trusty Bic.

Second that. I just use a bic or my regular zippo.

Interesting, Looks like Bic it is, although, I do love the smell of a match that has just been struck.

Match is better (to me) if you're not trying to lit the pipe in a windy place :)

Re: Need some more Education...........

I've created a simple, though crude pipe lighter using an old sardine can, a small hydrogen fuel cell, two lithium ion batteries....

Not really. I've used a Bic butane lighter since they first came on the market. A wooden match is OK, once the toxic tip has turned to char. I use the same lighters for cigars--even the most expensive cigars.

LOL. Uncle Bob, you've pulled so many rabbits out of the hat so far I was really believing you. I was scratching my head over the hydrogen a little bit, but still figured a logical explanation was soon to follow.

Yes, the Bic is a truly great invention. And only $1.79!
