Perique is not traditionally used in cigar blending, though I have used it successfully as a minor condiment in a filler blend. I found it works best with very mild cigar fillers (like mostly seco leaf) to broaden the aroma profile, and crank up the nicotine.

Received my replacement Perique today thanks so much.
I only ordered this once and the smell was off as far as I could tell not really sure what it should smell like.
This replacement batch I received smells, well as I expected the first time after reading so many reviews.
I smell fermented, spicy, maybe very dry red wine I love dry red wine looking forward to trying this again.
I will burn the old batch out side in my fire pit I hope the neighbours don't complain. LOL

Again curious as to whether there was a whole batch of spoiled perique or was it just one customer’s experience? I have a few pounds stored away from orders placed in June

Smell it. If it smells all right then its still good sometimes its subject to mold if air gets into it.

I wasn’t planning on opening the bags until I needed them so I could keep sealed airtight. The one I did open smells of pure barnyard silage. Took about a week to fully dry out.

Not sure how to comment here and customer service is second to none. To say something happened give a email in. I had a thing happen with some leaf posted on the forum and had faith it would be rectified with no worries when i posted the leaf. I am not going to worry about the quality as I know something will be done. You order from the other guys they plain and simply tell you your shit out of luck.

I can't honestly answer if the whole 500 lb. barrel was bad, but the top 50 lbs. were not up to the standard I expected. It was Perique and had a perique smell, but it also had a very foul aroma. The barrel has since been replaced and I think this barrel is the best we've ever had.
