10 bales of some of the finest cigar leaf available has just been received. None of this is on the website yet and it will be a few days before we get these bales broken down and processed. Free shipping with 3 lbs or more.

To order, send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you an invoice. We'll start shipping early next week

Here's the leaf that just came in...

Criollo 98
Ligero $19.00 lb.
Viso $18.50 lb.
Seco $18.50 lb.

Nicaraguan Habano
Ligero $20.00 lb.
Viso $19.00 lb.
Seco $19.00 lb.

German Aleman
Ligero $18.00 lb.
Seco (Banda) $18.00 lb.
Capa Clara #3 $18.50 lb.
Capa Oscuro #3 $ 18.50 lb.

The Capa is a small leaf that can make a wrapper, but might be better suited for a filler because of the leaf size. All of the Aleman has aged at least 5 years with some nearing 10 years.

I also brought in some whole leaf Latakia. With the volatility in that part of the world, there's no telling if this will be available again in the near future. $25.00 lb.

I have the criollo 98 on my wish list along with the ecuadoran wrappers if its available for the near future! The Nicuaraguan Habano seco and viso from the group buy are fantastic!

Those prices look great for what you are getting.

Don, your deals make it very hard for a fellow to stay enthusiastic about growing his own. Especially after this year's weather nightmare.

Syria is pretty much out of the picture for the foreseeable future. So Cyprian Latakia is all there is for the entire world supply. You can pick some up from Cornell & Diehl, shredded: http://www.cornellanddiehl.com/blending_tobaccos.htm for $40 a pound, plus $2.83 per pound federal excise tax. Or you can buy Don's whole leaf Latakia at $25 a pound, and shred it to your own preference.

A baseline English-style pipe tobacco blend:
  • Flue-cured Virginia ~25-30%
  • Perique ~20-25% (or cigar leaf or black Cavendish)
  • Latakia ~25%
  • Turkish (commonly Izmir) ~ 25%

Besides the price the great advantage to me in whole leaf Latakia vs shredded is I press whole leaves together when I make pipe tobacco, then slice into flakes. I used to have to sprinkle shredded Latakia between other whole leaves. Whole leaf will work much better and distribute the Latakia more evenly.
