I'm not sure what I'm looking at in the last picture, but pretty sure that is some variety of Oriental. How is it that you don't know what you're growing?

Welcome ssilver, The way that leafy part curls around the stalk in the first pic.looks alot like my bursa or ottoman, I was noticing that today on mine. How old is the plant budding and how tall is it. The last pics look similar to my orientals at that size.

Welcome Ssilver...I am real sure it is tobacco you are growing...the buds on one picture sure look different than anything I have budding.

My bosses mom owns a nursery in Western NY and he brought me one in as a novelty because he knows I smoke. I thought it was pretty cool and asked him to get me some more I got 48 all together. They have been in the ground since June 5[SUP]th[/SUP].. The tallest is 28” and the others are mostly from 6”-20” I had some issues w/ bugs early on and sevin has helped a lot. I asked what kind on Tobacco it was and they had no idea.. They just knew it was tobacco.. I have been getting all sorts of guesses.. who knows.. a few of them already have suckers.

Mine are getting taller than that and no sign of budding yet. I.m expecting them to get 6' so I may be way off base. Good luck figuring it out. I'm not familiar with the ornamental varietys, have you tried searching those since the origin is unknown, just in case. Let one flower and it may ring a bell for someone.

thanks for the input BarG.. I am going to look around at variety pictures and figure this out.. and let a couple flower so I have some seeds for next year..
