Perlite and Container Gardens

Hello Fair Trade Tobacco,

I'm curious, what ratio of Perlite to potting soil is recommended for container gardens? Any other preferred additions to the soil mix?

Depends on where you are in the country. Best thing to do is contact your local agricultural extension office and ask for advice for the specific plants you want to grow.

My "standard" mix for seed starts, transplants as well as potted plants is:

• MiracleGro peat 2/3
• Perlite 1/6
• Vermiculite 1/6
