Its been talked on here, about that mcclelland smell and flavor.

One thread had a guy in the uk talking about his grandfather being a taboconnist/herbalist and things done to kill nicotine content. Cant find "oil of havana" online..

McClellands had vinegar in alot of the tins, multiple blends. No one ever got the smell down. Not even when using the same physical production batch of raw tobacco. My questions are this

1. Alot of the early discusisons on it have that being done as fingicide/preservative.

2. sir walter raleigh tobacco NOW has that same horrid room clearing vinegar stench. But when people take the time to dry it down completely, it gets more then usable.

Can this be considered an attempt to change the ph balance of the mixed blend itself?

As in, if i have a tin of macbaren berry macbite, could soaking in vinegar for a while reduce the acid burn?
