I already have a veg garden that is 28x28 ft . Last night came home from work and scalped another 11 ft to the south with the mower so I'll have 11 x 28 dedicated to just baccy. Thinking of going a couple mower swaths on the other side to expand my asparagus patch, give me another almost 8 ft bringing it to a tobacco plot size of 36 x 11 . Total garden would be 36 x 39 ...now that I typed that ,I may as well go 40 x 40 ...Garden space is like closet space , make it bigger than you think you 'll need, it'll get full quick and you wish you'd had more space.

440 ft[sup]2[/sup] provides room for 117 full-size tobacco plants (@ 3.75 ft[sup]2[/sup] per plant). If you intend to plant in traditional rows, then subtract the area of the foot paths between rows.

40x40 would be a perfect size to take care of yourself +more to set back. I enlarged to 20x20 this year and that would be fine if no loss occurs but wouldn't really let you get ahead.

I settled on 30 x 40 (360 sq ft just for tobacco). any more was taking too much away one direction from the dogs(3 labradors) area and another direction would have been shaded by the shed. Its huge . Today I got off work earlier than expected (rain) and I got my package of "surprise seeds" and the cigar mould I bought on ebay was delivered .
