The smell right out of the bag is very reminiscent of Aleman tobacco leaf. It also has a very noticeable Perique smell to it. The moisture content was 43% which is about average for all the plugs I've tested as well as a few flake tobaccos. The taste is nice and robust, not to be confused with "strong". I think this would be a very good tobacco for people that are transitioning from cigars. It would also be nice for a change of pace for those that smoke a very light tobacco. The nicotine content was on the mild side. All in all, a very tasty tobacco.

Is this from the shop in Wilmington, NC? Sounds good but not a lot of info out there ... thanks!

I really miss the Aleman Seco and Liguero...... this is a great review JBD! Thanks for sharing. IF he still has some, I have to order it Monday.

[Please note that, in this review, I used the Jungle Tobacco as a pipe tobacco] Definitely an interesting tobacco (in a good way). Immediately after slicing open the bag, I buried my nose in it to get a whiff of the concentrated smell. I'm not sure if it was just me, but, the plug had a 'dark' fruity note... almost like a newly-opened jar of homemade blackcurrant or blackberry jam. Since first hearing about it, I thought that this plug/flake/bundle would be like a rough, similarly-bundled rustica that I smoked several years ago (I even had some ibuprofen and a tall glass of water on standby). I have to admit... I was dead wrong. As Jitterbugdude said, "nice and robust, not to be confused with 'strong.'" I when I sliced down this plug, I left it in thicker, still-pressed strips, like a lightly rubbed flake, and smoked it in a pipe... this slowed the burn and likely contributed to the relative mildness of the smoke. Still, not the nicotine freight train that I expected. Though relatively mild, I would consider this a 'drier,' woodier smoke... almost like smoking a light cigar wrapper leaf without an over-powering 'cigar flavor' (that may just be me). In any case, I like the Jungle Tobacco... it's a nice change of pace. It seems like it would be right up the alley of people who enjoy cigar leaf or straight burley pipe blends. Because of its relative mildness, this tobacco would be great for pipe smokers experimenting with cigar blends and, as Jitterbugdude points out, cigar smokers transitioning to (or, at least, experimenting with) pipes.

Thanks for the review. I'm going to try to bring about 50 carrottes in. They weigh about 2 lbs a piece and should be about $20 lb. or $39.99 each. Shipping will be a killer on these, but I think they would make a nice addition to the line-up.

What are your thoughts on this price?

Well, What do you want me to say... that's a nice low price?... and then you charge more?...
Actually, most bulk tobacco can be had for roughly 34-45 bucks a pound, so $39.99 for 2 pounds is a good deal.

This review by thatshychef sold me somewhere between the "dark fruity note" to the "drier, woodier smoke".

FmGrowit, you should hire this guy exclusively for website tobacco descriptions, it'll probably double your sales :) It sounds just like the kind of tobacco I just love to do all sorts of tobacco'y things with!

And yes, $39.99 for 2 lbs is a steal.
