I noticed Harbor freight has good deals on rock tumblers, I wonder what the rubber barrels are made of tho.

Ok I checked out the nutri-bullet site, I'm assuming you may be speaking of the milling blade, like a little coffee bean chopper thing. I have a mini coffee bean thing with a small stainless cavity and those flat milling blades, I used to use it for milling brown rice flour. I haven't tried it yet, but I will give it a try. Let me know if your speaking of something different. What model would you suggest from nutri-bullet?

I also found diy tumbler/ball mill projects on YouTube, one of them uses a five gallon bucket. I really like this idea becouse buckets are available in food grade materials. They seal great. And I won't ever out grow it.

Also on YouTube their are diy projects where they use cpvc or PVC pipes to make tumbler/ball mill barrels they are loud but could be made with inner sleeves for sound dampening. Water and drain pipes I would assume they to can be found in food grade materials.

If the drum of a ball mill was made of rubber, which could contaminate the snuff, a length of pvc pipe with end caps could be centered, or allowed to roll freely in it. Wrapping the pipe in insulation foam (“pool noodle” material) would probably keep things quiet.

Although I have not made nasal snuff, I have used a similar, cheap coffee bean mill to turn rock hard coriander seeds, mustard seeds and other dried spice seeds into dust. My issue with that approach is the mill's tiny capacity, requiring many batch runs. The advantage of the cheap coffee mill is that your tobacco will come into contact with only stainless steel during the milling process.

Regarding "food-safe' materials, their safety rating assumes that they are used as intended. Grinding-up and eating a food-safe container is not assumed to be safe. Nor is snorting it up your nose.

I actually laughed out loud! Yeah, I was thinking about that DeluxeStogie, lol. I don't think there's much risk of stainless ball bearings grinding the walls of a bucket or pipe.

But yes, I too would not suggest adding any actual abrasives into the process and snorting up all the leaves, plastic, abrasives, etc. or eating or smoking it for that matter.

The biggest draw back to using the affordable rock tumblers, is I think, That some of the included cylindrical barrels have a sort of stinky type of rubber that's mainly in the design for noise suppression, and the snuff picks up the scent, making it unacceptable.

The taste/essence is a huge part of the snuff experience, as one would guess. How snuff works it doesn't really smell, or taste. It actually smells and tastes like smell and taste is the same sense. Sort of like Wasabi sauce does, but not offensive at all for the most part. If the snuff is offensive it's a swing and a miss. I was so shocked the first commercial snuff I tried was McChrystals Lemon and it was as offensive as a child's candy, no burn, no sneeze, no drip, it was totally user friendly to the newbie, still delivering the Nicotine quick and unoffensively. The more you use snuff and get use to it, your opinion of what's unacceptably offensive will drift, and open up the part of the market that has more kick. Some snuffs are probably not that beginner friendly.

Honestly tho D'Stogie, I'm honestly overthinking it. Truly if one were to grind an incredibly small amount of nasal snuff, say 500 grams that is months and months worth of tobacco use as snuff. It's so incredibly efficient a vice, that one must wring every last molecule of Nicotine from the leaf. I mean such small amounts are insufflated, that we alkalize the stuff to make all possible nicotine available, for absorption to the bloodstream.

Do any other tobacco consumption methods concern them selves with swinging it more alkaline to max out nicotine availability? One of the biggest concerns I find with nasal snuff is selecting a variety with enough NICOTINE.

If you insufflated too much in your nose, it just passes into your throat, atleast the fine dry snuff that I like, (called toast). I like it for the flavor/essence though. I wonder what toast would taste, work like with added moisture? I could probably do more, maybe it would deliver the nic. faster also. Sometimes all the toast I take hits my throat, then you have to sip a drink.

From my tub of snuff that I got on May 11th, I used 183.6 grams by July 23rd. I doubt most snuffers would use that much. Plus I smoked.

I want to quit smoking, but atleast I don't have chest pains any more. Before snuff, I smoked a pound of "The Best of the Rest- English" without filters in one week. I cut down a lot, I really liked that stuff, when it was good. B.O.T.R.-English was not consistent, it's what's left after blending the good pipe tobacco. (I bet the "Latakia" was likely, a spray casing, made from washing down the Lat. smoke house.)

Some none smokers used to have issues with their eyes watering from being in the same room with me, even while I wasn't smoking. I probably smelled like a goodyear tire plant. I couldn't smell my Latakia cologne. Anyways I think snuff was likely not a bad decision for my health.

Well that's TMI, I noticed the phone was on 1% battery, and plugged it in half a second before it shutdown.

Chewing tobacco and snus both use alkaline salts added to the tobacco to free-base the nicotine, making it more available.
The industry calls them “Ph modifiers”.

I’ve been looking into snuff recently, as I just can’t grow enough in my apartment area to satisfy chewing tobacco needs. On the other hand, I’m looking at getting a garden house, soon (looking at it tonight, in fact). But I will have to grow veggies there, too!

I just milled a whole pound plus of Virginia plus the midribs separate, in my bladed coffee bean grinder, and did it all pretty quick! Considering how long it takes to use a pound of nasal snuff there is absolutely no reason to get me a faster method to mill my nasal snuff. Even if I needed to mill four times the snuff I would not upgrade to a better mill, there's no point.
