I've seen people looking for American Spirit blends, but can't find anything on the DARK blue (there is light blue though). And dark blue is a significantly different blend than light blue.
The dark blue pack is the non-organic, all US grown variety. WOW is that stuff good. I can't find anything that compares. I'm looking for somebody who's tried this variety of tobacco and can comment on probably what's inside it.
It's very rich and strong. It has some really heavy type of Virginia and some Burley I think. I'd paypal someone if you want to buy it and review it for me.
I'm pretty serious at finding a replacement for it cause I smoke so much less when I'm on it compared to other tobacco. I just don't feel like I want that much.
AM Spirit claims they are additive free, but I'm beginning to think they are putting something in there to enhance it.

I ordered from wholeleaftobacco:
Virginia Red
Virginia Lemon
Virginia RIPE
Virginia Bright
Burley

I tried the ripe, red and burley so far. Just have yet to try the bright and lemon. When I tried those ones, I blended about 30% burley in with them. The blend with the red leaf seemed closer than the ripe.

Anyway, I know somebody can help me crack the code.

Hi deluxe :)

So I did some more testing today and I really like the bright leaf a lot. I think it's my favorite of all of those leaves I ordered. I could just smoke it all alone with nothing added.
The burley leaves a lot to be desired though. It's very spicy and strong, but that's it. It seems to lack the richness of coffee/chocolate like I was expecting (which is what I find in the American spirit dark blue). Seems to me like just the bright leaf alone gets closer to the spirit taste and vibe. I think to make it perfect, a better batch of burley would be needed, or something else like burley, but more heavy richness and less of the plain spicy that this one has.
Maybe I should blend the bright leaf with either dark air cured or the burley red tips or something else? It's clear the bright leaf should be the primary constituent though.

To my taste buds, the dark air cured is exactly this compared to burley, spectacular and delicious, though I can't imagine inhaling it in a cigarette due to its strength and smoke's thickness.

I've found at least for my pipe blends, too much dark air causes poor burning. With a straight bright:dark mix I've found 5:3 is about the limit for decent burn.

I'm very late chiming in on this thread, but there are some errors here. American Spirit dark turquoise, dark yellow, and dark green are ORGANIC. The original pale turquoise, pale yellow, and pale green are NOT organic. You've got it backwards. Other than organic or not, both dark turquoise and light turquoise taste about the same. If I have to buy commercial cigarettes, AS is the only brand I can hack the taste of, either shade of turquoise will do, and I think my home blend does a decent job of giving me a good tasting smoke at a much cheaper price.

Stop trying to use burley leaves. My remake of AS turquoise and dark turquoise is a blend of lemon bright, dark air cured, red leaf, and Maryland 609. I tried burley once and thought it was awful tasting. Maryland 609 is way better than burley. AS doesn't use casing on their tobacco. It's additive free.

Bright leaf makes a fine cigarette by itself, but more of a Canadian cigarette, most US cigarettes have some Turkish tobacco in them (I think), that gives them the american flavor. My last order was for WLT threshed American and Turkish blend. You can't beat the price (why I tried it), but it does make a very satisfying smoke that is Canadian enough to fool most people, but with just a little more flavor than bright leaf by itself. I don't know, but I suspect you have the right leaves for the blend you want, you just need to swap Burley for Turkish. But anyone else here probably knows better than me, I just kind of stick with Lemon/bright but the American Turkish blend is great and I'll order it next time as long as it is available.
