Tobacco that is fire cured is hung in large barns where hardwood fires produce a low smoulder of smoke. The process can take 3 days, or several months, resulting in tobaccos that are high in nicotine and low in sugar. Pipe tobacco and non-smoked varieties of tobacco are often fire-cured.
