This Corojo 99 was grown in the Dominican Republic. This leaf is a deep mahogany reddish brown. It has a malty sweetness with notes of cedar, nutmeg and white and black pepper. The smoke is thick, full bodied, earthy and smooth. Corojo 99 is a strong, full flavored tobacco. If you like robust flavors, this one is for you!
The 1940s Corojo was a tremendous success for cigar construction and is one of the tobacco leaves of legend. Because of its poor resistance to pest and mold, and inefficacy, it failed. Criollo 98 and Corojo 99 are the most similar hybrid varieties to thrive, now transplanted onto Latin American soil and island nations like the Dominican Republic.
This is the highest part of the plant that we offer as filler Tobacco. It has the highest level of nicotine among this tobacco variety because of its priming location on the stalk, and the thickest leaves.
As with all Whole Leaf Tobacco products, the leaf is packaged in vapor-proof bags and in perfect order for working when it arrives to you. The leaf will remain is perfect condition for at least a year if unopened. Once opened, any unused leaf can be saved in this condition by re-using the packaging. Simply fold the opened end and sealing it with tape.

This was the “secret sauce” in a few cigars that another WFT customer rolled for me. Amazing leaf, can’t wait to get my order in!

Great case out of the pack. Rolled a small puro to try this on its own: I get cedar, orange, cinnamon and pepper. Good burn for ligero, and less strong than some visos. Can be a standalone filler without overwhelming, which surprised me. Highly recommended.

This is probably the best ligero at retail right now, IMHO.

Just bought this again and I’m adding an extra star, very highly recommended, my favorite ligero.

Difficult to find real corojo 99 like this, and this is the real thing. I’ve been a customer of Don’s for years now, only guy I know who gets corojo of this quality. Well done, guys, my favorite tobacco period.

Corojo ligs, corojo ligs… I think I’ve got the right stuff here. If so, I get this neat “smokiness” out of it. Like a campfire, but waaaay more subtle. Yeah. It’s good.

Can’t really go wrong with this leaf, Full flavor, medium strength. Notes of wood, cedar, brown sugar and hits of hot cinnamon spice. Burns great . Possibly my favorite Dominican leaf and I enjoy smoking it on its own.
