Krumovgrad T2 1 lb. Turkish/Oriental
$27.99
Stacked leaves straight off the garlands from which the tobacco is cured. This tobacco is grown in the northern Aegean Sea region in Bulgaria. This is an upper stack position, so the leaves will be thicker and stronger in both flavor and nicotine than lower stack positions, but as with all Turkish/Oriental types of tobacco, still generally low in nicotine.

Like all Basma-type tobaccos, the Krumovgrad T2 is a lovely component for pipe blending. Its acidity is generally lower (slightly higher pH) than the stacked Basma, and has only a minimal effect in balancing the alkalinity of a dark tobacco. Sampled alone, the T2’s nicotine seems a little higher (still minimal) than Krumovgrad B2, and the T2 presents a slightly stronger flavor and quieter floral nature than the B2. Once in a pipe blend, it’s difficult for me to distinguish which of the two (T2 or B2) I’ve used. I have sampled several dozen different Oriental tobacco varieties, and this one is among the excellent examples.
