This wrapper is grown in the San Andres Valley, in the heart of the Mexican cigar country. San Andres Valley has a rich, fertile volcanic soil which produces this distinctive tasting tobacco.
As with Connecticut Broadleaf, San Andres is stalk-cured which produces a great binder and Maduro wrapper. . It is known for its earthy, smooth, and toasty flavor and sweetness found similar to a Maduro wrapper.
Due to the way this wrapper is grown and cured, it arrives at Whole Leaf Tobacco in a very dry condition. While packed as a wrapper, many leaves do not make wrapper grade.
The leaf that does not make wrapper grade is still shipped and can be used as a binder or filler.
As with all Whole Leaf Tobacco products, this leaf comes in proper moisture content for working, but additional moisture might be needed to make the wrapper more pliable and elastic for wrapping.
Delivery of this product can take up to three weeks.

I am truly a fan of this leaf as a wrapper. It can be very rough and has a lot of holes but with the right cutting skills you can get around it. The key is to cut above the hole by a few centimeters and you’re good. Not the prettiest leaf that WLT offers but I think it’s the tastiest wrapper that we can get online. PERIOD. TRUST me, this is the wrapper that you want. The smell of this leaf reminds me of mesquite for some reason. It’s amazing.

Of the other 2-3 retailers offer San Andres, this is the best. I’ve tried them all and this is has some distinct differences, such as aroma, thickness, tensile strength and less of a “BBQ smoked” smell from the leaf out of the package. Very smooth, mild-medium strength, believe it or not.
