This wrapper is grown in the San Andres Valley, in the heart of the Mexican cigar country. San Andres Valley has a rich, fertile volcanic soil which produces this distinctive tasting tobacco.
As with Connecticut Broadleaf, San Andres is stalk-cured which produces a great binder and Maduro wrapper. San Andres is originally from Cuban-seed tobacco and comes in a variety of shades. It is known for its earthy, smooth, and toasty flavor and sweetness found similar to a Maduro wrapper.
Due to the way this wrapper is grown and cured, it arrives at Whole Leaf Tobacco in a very dry condition. While packed as a wrapper, many leaves do not make wrapper grade.
The leaf that does not make wrapper grade is still shipped and can be used as a binder or filler.
As with all Whole Leaf Tobacco products, this leaf comes in proper moisture content for working, but additional moisture might be needed to make the wrapper more pliable and elastic for wrapping.
Delivery of this product can take up to three weeks.
