The 2022 crop of Turkish/Oriental Izmir is grown in Turkey. Much more Pronounced Turkish flavors than the airy (Angel’s Wings), delicate flavors of the Stacked Basma. Very little or no impact in a straight-from-the-bale sampling. Leaf samples yield nearly fully intact leaves, but broken pieces should be expected. Long-lasting, fragrant to semi-floral room note.
This is a very pleasant tobacco that requires little effort to make into your favorite tobacco product.
We deal in the finest leafonly.

Great tobacco. From the bag it has a full yet not overpowering aroma with some faint perfumy hints. Like the Prilep I received, it is in perfect case right out of the bag, so I shred two leaves, packed a pipe and enjoyed. This tobacco has a pleasant full flavor with a pleasant tangy note and a slight perfuminess showing up in the background. Another winner!

Nice leaf, fairly full bodied and flavored for an oriental, closer to prilep than it is to the delicate stacked basma. So far I like the prilep and basma better (for different reasons), but I really need to spend more time with all three.

Low to medium case, perfect for filler. Lots of colors and a nice fresh scent. The scattered, small, loose leaves produce a bold smoke. It starts off medium bodied with full flavors. As the bowl progresses the smoke thins and the flavors become progressively more complex. This is a definite buy again.

These lovely, lemon yellow leaves are beautifully sun-cured. As an Oriental with a petiole (a bare stem at the base of the leaf), it falls into the same family as Samsun, and like Samsun, its flavors are more robust than Basma.
For pipe blending, Katerini adds a bright note and more acidic smoke, balancing well with Maryland, burley, Perique or Dark Air-cured partners. Its distinctive aroma holds its own against Lemon Virginia and other bright leaf.

This stuff is EXCELLENT!! Ive never tasted anything like that before. Its just like my reading said it would be. I was going to mix it with bright virginia, latakia, and dark fired kentucky burly but i’m still waiting on a few things. I added a few sprigs of dark fired kentucky to this katerini for a little oomph. Man i wasnt disappointed. Tastes great, smokes cool. Good stuff. Even by itself.

The best choice I ever made for blending. I grew Tennessee Burley last summer and it was mighty strong. Especially towards the end of the cigarette. This Turkish was the perfect wife to calm down a grumpy Burley husband. When smoked together, you taste a happy union. Thanks for making this available!

I got this Izmir in my latest order. I was always curious about Turkish tobacco. Being in Canada it’s not a common thing in commercial cigarettes and never got around to growing some either with my other varieties. When I got the bag I opened it and I started shuffling through it. Tiny leaves, no need to remove stems. Texture is like leather or fruit roll-up, very neat. When I started cutting it is when I got a whiff of the spicy aroma. I smoked some 50/50 with the ripe Virginia tips and gives a nice floral and almost fresh taste in the mouth. Vet happy I got these, it will allow me to make entirely new flavour profiles with the red, bright and lemon Virginia.

Really good Turkish tobacco, milder than Samsun, bit dry in casing which led to some shake and broken leaves but nothing major. I ordered a pound of each, this and the Samsun. Always top notch clean leaf, very fast shipping, well packaged.
The Izmir is great blended with a little perique and some m609, adds a little base and nicotine boost. Definitely stocking up since oriental seen to becoming harder to find in the US.
