I do appreciate hand rolling cigars, but it's time consuming. After watching Bob build a home-made one with a plastic mat, I decided to try it with my own plastic map, just taping it to my cutting board and using a 3/4" dowel rod. I was amazed. I could roll in 1/10th of the time, and I could use my scraps to roll up quick-n-tasties with SO MUCH less hassle. So while I appreciate complete hand-rolling, for building up a stockpile to let rest for several months at a time, this will be my go-to.
Now, finding a Lieberman Machine for an affordable price is impossible. The cheapest I found was on etsy, a used one for $250. Wut.
So I set out to try to build one. Somehow, I was not able to find any blueprints myself. My Google-Fu failed me. So I decided to design my own.
I started in paint, and made a 2D not-to-scale diagram.

After that, went to SketchUp to build the full to-scale model.

After that, I just had to get my measurements. I estimate there's maybe $40 in materials here, and most of that will be in the mat.
Tools you'll need:
Table Saw
Miter Saw or belt sander (for the one piece with angles, if you think it's necessary. Looks better
)
Router; or Chisels and Drill
Full gallery of 3D design as follows. Keep in mind, the depicted cigar in the collection tray is a 7x60. The first one also includes a banana, for scale. The base is 16" x 16" and the actual Lieberman working area is 16" x 12".
I also designed a way to adjust the size of the mat. You can turn the adjusting dowel to lengthen / shorten for your desired ring gauge and draw tightness.
Not included is hardware to pin the mat to the back board or to attach the mat to the adjusting dowel. I play to use brass eyelets and punch holes in the mat, then zip tie the mat to the dowel rod. Use wedges to hold the dowel in place.

Last but not least, the 3D file I used to build it. Requires SketchUp

Let me know what you think and send pics if you build it!
