RYO Premium Roller

Anyone have experience with the RYO roller? I've been eyeballing it for a couple years now but I never see any reviews or anyone talking about it. I wanted to check here to see if anyone has one and can share with me the perks and quirks of this roller.

I did see the King Roller but I'm not interested in that one. I really like the flat table top roller that Bonner is making and would like to support a member, but it's too pricey for me. The RYO's price had me marinate the idea for a couple years already. Let me know what you guys think.

Oh one more thing, is it common for the factories to use Liebermann's when making lanceros? I love me the lancero but I can not roll them fer chit. I've been trying and trying and trying some more and I have a difficult time with the shape. I want to think that this is going to help me with consistency. If I'm wrong please let me know. Thanks guys!

Antique tuck cutter/board & cigar mold I would buy if.....

As all things are with shipping delays. I was able to take pictures of the board/cutter this morning. I hand scrapped the paint from the surface with a flat razor blade. And only tightened the through bolts. But it is a nice piece I think for what I paid. The bed of the cutter has a bit of rust...

I tend to over stuff small ring cigars. every size will have a weight to it. A liebermann will only help in binding speed.

I modelled the one i built off of the basic concept. Been using it for a while and it works well. I chose that route so i didnt need a dedicated table to the machine

Speaking simply of the lancero as an object of physics, the narrower the diameter of a cylinder, the greater the resistance to fluid flow (air and smoke, in the case of a lit lancero). I hand bunch and hand roll most of my cigars. I can be quite careless about the density of the filler when the ring gauge is, say, 56. But to roll a lancero (28 to maybe 36 ring), I have to bunch it in a manner that feels much looser.

I agree with @MarcL in saying that, "A Liebermann will only help in binding speed." If you bind one, without closing the head, you can test the draw. Do several of different density, and compare the draw. A long-filler lancero is just a finnicky thing.

Yep I bought one, and haven't used it much as I have learned to do a decent bunch, When I finally learned better techniques from this web site, the RYO sits in the corner. Hope this helps...

Indeed the lancero bunch needs to be different and I'm finding it be incredibly finnicky. There's no headroom with the bunch, it's so unforgiving. My other favorite profile is the 54 gauge torpedo and when bunching that, it's just like you say, can be careless with the density. It's pretty forgiving. But the lancero, it's so critical.

I've never used a rolling machine before, but I was hoping that it could bring consistency as well as save some time. I view it as any other tool, a time saver. If it can help me make better constructed cigars in less time then that sounds good to me. I see that the Oliva factory uses Liebermanns and the Oli V lancero is built fantastically. I guess I have this pipe dream that mine could be as nice haaha.

In my experience it helps a lot with speed and the consistency comes with practice although I do find it easier than hand bunching having the mat open and able to feel a bunch with both hands and then once again confirm the bunch once i start the roll in the mat but before i start the binder leaf. As a newbie ive been able to get very consistent, good burning sticks. If i was to sell mine i would instantly build a replacement.

I never made an attempt to sell mine past that post above because i would just build a new one. Well I already built a second one i use for smaller size rolls. But the convenience of the table top one is great. Pull it out in front of the tv and bunch up enough to fill a mold then put it away. Anyways I can build a new one if interested either built in style or table top or sell this one and build myself a new one.
