Nevermind. Saw the Powermatic shreds about 1.5 mm. That's too big for my taste. I'm hoping to find something that can shred between .5 and .75 mm.

I don't think you are going to find anything that shreds narrower than 0.8 mm.

Where ever you saw that, it's wrong. Here's the right information on the Powermatic shredder

An adjustable pepper or coffee grinder can make good snuff I bought this one

though you may not want to know how much work that is!!! if you do
1. get the best grinder you can ..maybe ceramic ?
2. get it as small as you can first this is more for finishing!
3. make sure its as dry as can be for grinding.
Also
If you grow your own or have some to cure -- shred it before its dry
it will shrink up even smaller // but if its allready cured forget that

My far backyard 'experimental' group of black stalk mammoth yielded 10 3/4 ounces dry
Not bad considering it suffered 20 days of straight rain here in ohio
