RyanM22 - The only method that I have for grinding up the larger stems is to blitz them in my blender and then sieve out the pieces. But PO has a good method using an old grinder attached to a power drill I think.

Frozenthunderbolt - my method is here ... this recipe includes cocoa powder which should be omitted for a pure snus. This is exactly the procedure I followed for the Silver River snus.

The flour had a very nice brown/reddish to it , will be most exciting to see what Silver River can offer.
Really nice ziplocks you sent the flour in , never seen them before. :D

Excellent to see it in action in Sweden :D

Should be almost ready for a taste by now! The batch I made has mellowed out very nicely now and has a deep earthy taste with a little of the incense/herbal note still there. I might sweeten my next batch with a little liquorice as this air cured tobacco has no natural sweetness left in it. To me it has just the right amount of nicotine in it.

Batch has been stored in the fridge for almost a month now and it smells very exciting but unfortunately I can't grade it or say how it tastes since I am on a medicine that makes my mouth come dry. :(
Its the same with any of the different snuses I have , hopefully it'll pass on by.

I hope you get well soon so you can enjoy your snuss again. That must be frustrating.

Hey Mr. Green, Did you burn your mouth when you burned down the giant goat??

I think I saw you on a video in the town of Gavle!

I used to set fire to many things when I was a kid , was 4-5 years old when trying to burn down my families summerhouse..........
The medication I take now is most probably for the rest of my life

Thanks a hole lot Knuck.
As it is at this very moment I think I can sense a little bit taste to my snus , spiced it with a few tonkabeans and we'll see how that works out...............;)

Looks like the major producer is Venezuela -- followed by Brazil and Colombia. I could probably get it to survive here, but it's a 60' tree. Not sure how long it would take to get a harvest -- probably a decade. I found one mention of it in book from 1891 -- the author suggests it wouldn't survive. That makes me want to try it.

Where did you get the tonka breans? I'm not finding an online source.

I got my beans here in Sweden , online too.
200 grams for about 30 $ ( many beans ) + shipping
Pic is clickable

Here in Sweden this bean was used to add flavour to what I think was a very bad processed snus in the 17 and 18 - hundreds.
It was called '' snusbean'' during its glorydays , these days they are prohibited to use as additive in snus and tobacco by the EU since it contains cumarin.
Another place where one can find them is ofcourse at eBay.
I think the beans has just a wonderful smell of something like vanilla.

They really are not that expensive because you only use a very small quantity to add flavor. I little goes a very long way. I do not use them for snus or dip but I do use them in my pipe blends.
