I'm going to spend some time making recipes up for casings, Anyone know of a demand for them here on the forums? I'd pre-make then and ship them to you.

Let me know.

There is a definite need for Burley casing for cigarettes. One major consideration is shelf-life.

Whatever you develop will need to be stored at room temperature for an extended time. Smaller amounts can be refrigerated after opening, but you have to get to the point where it can be shipped without refrigeration first.

I'm not sure if you'll need USDA approval or not. It might be easier developing a recipe and maybe sell the ingredients separately.

Given that the FDA has classified paper as a "tobacco product," when designated for use in rolling cigarettes, it would seem that a casing mixture would fall under the same rubric. That would require you to register with the FDA, and track Federal Excise Tax for its wholesale or retail distribution.

Good point Bob. I'll look into other Ways of doing it. Selling different ingredients might be a fees able option. Not labeled for consumption etc.

Just buy the components in near quantities needed to formulate the recipe. One ounce of extract of anything goes a long way There are quite a few formulas posted here from big tobacco recipes. Take the five most voluminous ingredients and start mixing. Alcohol based concentrates would work best since they can be mixed with water. Oil based concentrates would have to be mixed with alcohol, but that would be a major issue until someone lit an alcohol saturated cigarette.

I'm not trying to dissuade you but I'd be surprised if there was any demand for a flavoring for smokeless tobacco from the people on this site. They all seem to be pretty much a bunch of DIY-ers. In addition, the smokeless crowd is in the minority compared to the smokers, and... smokeless tobacco flavoring is so easy even a caveman can do it ( or is it a gecko?)

Maybe just post recipes on this site ?

Good Luck though

Can't blame a guy for trying to make a Buck off his passion but yeah personally speaking I'd be more interested in the recipe.

That's why I was asking, I didn't know if there was demand, if it's not worth my time it's not worth my money, thanks for the comments guys!

Bob

I never realized that cigarette tubes are classified as a tobacco product.

The government most likely says: "To help lower the usage of tobacco because it causes cancer, it effects our youth and makes evil crystals in the world that the conservative elephants use to steal the money from poor folks and those less fortunate"

The government most likely means: "to destroy America with more and more taxes on anything possible, aka 'Taxation with Misrepresentation'"

So yes...taxes most likely Chicken.

I'm sure they'd tax Oxygen too if they could (since you know, without Oxygen the cigarette wouldn't burn)

Haha, sorry Tom....

I still may consider making the mix and separate it to sell (wouldn't be complete, user assembly required bla bla bla), I'd only charge enough to cover supplies and time, wouldn't really need to make a profit. Once I get recipes I'll post them here for free.
