Brain Storming : “Smoking” Steamed Leaf

Perhaps some of you gents with more experience than I can answer this question; what would smoking (as in hang over smoking woods) steamed leaf be classified as?

it’s an experiment I’m willing to try as I haven’t seen any other grower trying this.

my guess is it’d be a bit like a cavendish Latakia. Granted I know Latakia is cured over smoke, not post treated with steam and smoke but I do wonder if it’d make an interesting product nonetheless.

The tobacco is already cured so it wouldn't be fire cured. I would call it smoked cavendish.

Nope.
Should be good. Only tobacco I ever smoked was air cured Japan 8 with chokecherry wood. I sprayed it real good with water, and placed the lot on top of the lid from a davidoff cigarillo box on top of my bbq chimney, and let it go until the tobacco dried out and started to burn, and pulled it off. It was great tobacco

Had it been steamed? Technically. Long enough to constitute calling it cavendish though? Probably not.

I’ve got a half a pound of Virginia cavendish that was steamed for 8 hours I’m going to experiment with. A gentleman on a Facebook group I’m part of referred to this adventure as An “all American Latakia” which is fitting

I’ve read through it twice if I had a better grow year I would’ve attempted your process

Could be good I think if I had one I would want to try putting leaf in a smoker and see how that works.
