New Toy for this year. I hope to be able to mow between the rows and not pull weeds.
1000 + plants again
I rototilled this plot about 10 times and york raked between tillings to get the rocks out and I still had to tuck some of the plastic mulch under the dirt due to rocks lifting up the mulch layer.

Looking good. You planning on selling commercially or just a large family? LOL

Good luck on your grow this year my friend. That was an impressive amount of baccy you produced last year, and you were mighty generous with it. Folks like you make this forum what it is. (I mean in a good way, lol)

Thank You Guys, I wish you all the best of Luck Also.
The way Mother Nature has been acting Some one really Pissed Her Off.
We had nothing but thunder storms for 3 days then 3 Days of 30 to 40 mph wind gusts.
My veggie plants are all wind burned. the tomato plants are ok and so are the tobacco plants no wind burn, Weird.
The wind Blew up a bunch of plastic mulch that sucked to put back under and was beating the death out of the plants. I guess that is one way to harden them off
I got 500 plants in and doing good 500+to go I get a 2 week break since I waited to start the other half hopefully it will make the harvest easier.
This year Baccy Patch consists of 100+ of each.

Yes it is. Just in case.
I should have offset it that is why the plants are on the bottom of the plastic. The tube the drip line goes in leaves a big trench in the middle and I did not look when I was laying it down.
I wanted to spray the center but did not know what to use without killing the baccy or smoking it. any ideas.
Good luck Chicken with your patch this.

Yeah I broke new ground and put roundup on the new growth a month before laying in the tobacco but I'm starting to get new-new growth, I'm waiting till there is a windless day to reapply.

This year is an experiment growing veggies at the perimeter of the plot, I'm just worried about deer though, I planted rusticas in between the zukes, maybe it'll give them some heartburn

out here i get a helper with the water hose and i run down the weeds with a weed dragon (torch) just got the heat them up not burn em they get a little shinny they die. just do it in the begining of the season because once it gets to hot and everthing dries out you have more chance for fire. but when everything is green the water hose it just a back up. playing with a 500,000 btu torch is a lot of fun.

next year ill irrigate with a drip line, IM MOVING BACK TO MY '' PROPERTY ''.....

the only thing holding me where, im at is this years bacca crop... and the crap [ literally ] ive done to the ground,,, when harvest/drying time is over, IM MOVING BACK.

im very intrested in how the dripline works for your bacca, i dont recall seeing anyone use it,, but ive read, where, bacca dont like to have WET FEET....

the bacca fields i deliver to use overhead irrigation, by a massive sprinkller sytem that WALKS THE FIELD as it water's, they call it a '' pivot''

I'm beginning to see how those wildfires start each year in California. LOL

I think I will stick to my weed wacker. It only takes my kid 45 min. to do it.:)
Fire and plastic do not go well together I hear. I do use 1 yr. weed killer around the electric fence and it works good.
The deer do not see the electric fence wire even tho I put rag flags on the wire. We have a deer that the kids call limpey, She got caught in the fence and wrapped her leg around it when she was a doe and really messed herself up I had to cut the wire to free her.
The Plants are just sitting there. They are hardened up pretty good and only one Fatality so far.

There's going to be some pissed off soccer players when they show up for the next game and see what you did to their field. Sleep with one eye open my friend. LOL
