The crockpot that I am using specifically mentions in the manual, not to put cold water into a heated crockpot (gradual drip feed is different though).

Cold to cold or hot to hot is the safest way from empty. The drip system where the crockpot is never empty, should not be a problem. Quality of the pot would need to be considered into the equation as well!

food grade silicone adhesive? It would not be the strongest repair, but it would be waterproof and take the heat.

That stuff probably costs more than a cheap crock. Mine will be cheap, The other one in the kiln I got for 9.99 open box or display model. Hope I can find another one for that price.
For her is a different story.

Well time to upgrade the Flue Curing Chamber.
I can thank Chillardbee and Rickey to get my arse moving on hopefully to a better cure this year.
Last year was not bad for a first try But I want Better this Yr.
Gutted the control panel of the china stuff for starters. Found Matching controllers for RH and can calibrate the same for bottom and top RH. I had a little prob there last year.
Heck the light still works.

She still looks good. Kick the dust off and fire her up. Nothing wrong with a little upgrade. I got to build a whole new chamber. It won't be long now you'll have that sweet smell of good cure coming from your chamber. :)

What are you using for heat and humidity this year instead of the crock pots?
