Yeah I suppose so consistent sunny days in Vancouver don't kick in until the first week of June but this year has been the worst I've seen.
For instance , yesterday high of 24c sunny, today high of 18c as an example and cloudy ..
Well that's the problem right there, you're using Celsius - that always makes the temps sound lower:) Just kidding.
Man, what I would do a 24C day right now... 36C (97F) here right now,

Here are two plants of the same type grown side by side. One is in a slightly smaller pot than the other. Guess which one is flowering early? ;)

The slightly bigger one, on the left, also has some air holes stabbed into it. That might be a factor as well. I might get nuts later and pull them out of their pots to look at the roots. I will post them if I do.

Gosh I've forgotten now.. about 2 gallon I estimate roughly.
The one on the right says "no. 2 pot" if that helps..

@Radagast I have some 2 gallon pots around the house so i was thinking of using those. I am kinda glad to hear that smaller pots can be reason of early flowering but I'm curious though what that means? Shorter growrth period? Smaller plants? Weaker plants?

I would not attribute early budding simply to being in a pot. I have not seen that.

These images from my 2017 grow demonstrate that the potted plant (even in a roughly 1 gallon pot) grows to about 2/3 the height with leaves about 2/3 the size, compared to the same variety grown in the field.

I haven't grown since 2020 due to various reasons and decided to grow again this year. Still encountering the same issue this year as in 2020, I have Golden Virginia, Burly and Criollo98 growing and all them started to bud.
Put into 5G pales since June and some leaves are turning yellow and some look mature and ready to be picked.
I know that it is not due to growing in buckets, my previous grows all had 4-5ft+ plants, actually all my garden grown plants are experiencing the same thing, tomatoes, hot peppers. cilantro, parsley all flowering.
All have stunted growth, tomatoes only 6 inches tall and flowering, same with peppers.

The plants are lot smaller than my previous grow, kind of a bummer.

I'll do like the last time, let them go to flower and top them at that point.

The tobacco in the photo looks wonderful. One commonality this season is that tobacco, tomato and pepper are all Solanaceous plants that share many pests. But they also share this season's weather, dirt and probably fertilizer.

Maybe next year I'll germinate a second set of seeds a few weeks apart and stagger my grow , see how that turns out.

Took a look today and two of my plants, both Burley 21 some look to be ready , show below (same two plants as in my previous post) .
Both starting to bud but not flowered yet. Usually, priming doesn't happen until a few weeks after topping.
Middle leaves are pretty much mature, bottom leaves are just thick but not textured.

Should I prime the first two bottom rows and leave the top leaves ?

No, I am more worried about picking leaves over ripened/mature. I still have difficulty figuring out when best to prime.
It seems that just leaving the plants to continue growing is the correct approach.
Plants have grown significantly since my last post and the Golden Virginia has yellowed.
The good thing is an early harvest, I would expect harvest to begin at the end of August and curing mid September.

First pic is Burly 21, the last two yellowing ones are Virginia, I think it's time to harvest those 2.

I have a very small grow this year, 4 Burly, 2 Criollo-98, 2 GV. IMG_1573.jpgIMG_1571.jpgIMG_1572.jpg
