Catalpa Worms

Better hope these worms don't get started eating tobacco . Look at what they did to my Catalpa tree in only a fed days .

Does anyone have a solution to getting rid of them ?

I know they are good catfish bait . You can put them in a jar with saw dust and freeze them . Thaw them out and they come back to life .

Take a look .This was before the worms .

I gather that plump critter in the tree is not what you're talking about. Do you have a picture of the worm?

Now I'm seeing worms in the lower photo. They seem to have a tail horn. Do they look like hornworms to you?

Here is one trying to eat my house . They are everywhere .

Here is the tree from a distance .

They must be good fish bait, I seen some on the net at $ 3 + a dozen and one place had them at $6 + a dozen .

I have one tree that they haven't touched yet . Last year they eat both trees .

Try some thuricide, {bacillus thuringenises} in liquid concentrate for sprayer ,It works on plant eating worms and caterpillars about $8.00 a small bottle, enough to spray a few trees. Never tried on catalpa worms. If you wouldn,t mind parting with some seed pods I would send you a postage paid envelope return envelope. Send pm if interested, I want to grow for turning lumber. I would love to plant some on my property. Ive seen the catalpa worms at walmart for 5 or 6 bucks a dozen 10 years ago. Catalpa is supposed to be some realy nice turning wood. I haven't had access to any yet, but it is supposed to to polish out real nice.
