Bravo Charly. You waited a few months for the update but you then made a very nice one. I'm glad to hear that you have strain resistant and the one I send you are some of them. And nice photo of the little animals too.

Hi Charly, I would like to ask you for advice: a friend of mine from the Paris area, therefore a latitude of about 48 °, she would like next year to transplant the tobacco in late April but fears "the saints of the Ice" (Les saints de glace)!
Could the tobacco die for two or three days of night frost? Is there a way to protect tobacco from frost? Thank you!

Well, personnaly I always transplanted after the «saints de glace», because there is no need to put the plants in the ground too soon.
I put them in the ground in mid may or later.
Young tobacco plants might suffer from early frost.
Moreover, they like when the weather (and the ground) is already hot, I have already seen tobacco plants transplanted late becoming bigger and healthier than plants transplanted earlier.

Is there a reason why she would like to transplant so early ?

If she does, she can put a protection (agribon ? In french we call it «voile d'hivernage» or «voile de forçage») and/or some mulch, it can help maintain the temperature a few degrees higher.

My advice would be : be patient and wait a few weeks, summer lasts long enough for the tobacco to grow and cure. ;)

What are those scary little orange-ish bumps arrayed in the hexagonal pattern?
These are eggs, I am not sure which insect it is, but I have a lot of stink bugs. But I am not sure. I often find this type of eggs, but with different size, so there might be different insect at work there ;)

Thanks Charly, you were very kind!
How's the tobacco work? my God how many plants! I hope you have someone who helps you!

Even I have those nests towards the end of August and sometimes they are full of tiny red insects, they look like tiny balls.

You are welcome.
Late frost are regularly damaging our garden... This year we had no cherry at all because of a late frost on the blossoms... :(
This is why I prefer to put the plants in the ground later than sooner ;)

Yes I grew quite a lot of tobacco this year and I have struggle to take care of it (too much to do this year), I do this all alone, my wife helps me with the vegetables garden.
