I had to do some searching. It appears that Beaver Dam peppers came from Hungary, via immigrants.

Here's the Greenwood. I have been battling suckers all summer, I think because of being planted so late.

Here's the Kasturi. Certainly ready to start picking and sun curing.

Here's two buds of Kasturi male and Greenwood female. Fingers crossed on that.

I am satisfied, given all the garden renovations that had to be done.

Sun curing Kasturi

I cut sticks to length, put a nail in each end, fastened MIG wire to one nail, put leaves on wire, back to back and front to front, with the most ripe on the ends and least in the middle. The wire goes over the middle of the stick so half the leaves are on either side of the stick so it doesn't droop. It's going to be mid twenties tomorrow then drop to high teens. I might put plastic over them tomorrow if the sun seems too intense, or the humidity too low, but I don't think i will need to. When the weather gets cooler, I'll put them on the other side of the tomatoes so they get more sun.

I would cut the whole bud-head stalk, and bring them indoors after about 6 weeks beyond the pollination date. Then allow them to hang indoors for another month. I'm just guessing. The fact that they have not spontaneously shriveled and dropped from the plant suggests that the buds are percolating something.

I can't say I'm not a little worried about ripening. All of it is mottled and alligatored, so it should be fine. I wish I had my old curing shed. I think the late ripening may indicate the soil I purchased for the garden boxes must have too much nitrogen. Anyway, the plan is to let them yellow and run yellowed leaf through the fire curing setup.
