I love how a light dusting of snow reveals the angle of the planes, the faults and folds, and the glacial striations in the mountains.

THE LAST OF THE CIGARS
20190216_133912.jpg
Yesterday, exploiting a near spring day I made a long walk in the woods with my dog and, while walking, smoked the last cigar of the 2017 grow. A Petit Robusto with Virginia Gold seco wrapper, Vuelta Abajo seco binder and Vuelta Abajo seco and ligero filler with, in the center, a thiny strip of Aztec. A good smoke that make me sweat a few and turn a little my head. Luckily the dog didnt noticed anything;)

Today I rolled some new cigars this time using my mold. The result are obviusly a lot better than a freehand roll. They are:
filler Vuelta Abajo seco and ligero plus Nostrano seco and ligero;
binder Nostrano seco;
wrapper Nostrano volado.
A complex blend but this time I will try the Nostrano and Vuelta Abajo together.
I made also a photo that come my new avatar.
A few week rest in my humidor and I will see the result.

Very nice.

If I had not grown Nostrano del Brenta myself, I would find it difficult to believe that a volado wrapper could be so dark. But Nostrano produces the most consistently dark leaf of any variety that I've grown. And despite its intimidating color, the taste and aroma are always mild.

You are right Bob. Ever the volado are dark brown but the ligero leafs are almost full black and with the stiffness of leather. But after one month of kilning they burn well and have a deep but not strong aroma.
