It's made out of trees. It's so safe that they use it for kindergarten projects. It's so cheap that they use it for wallpaper. You mix up a pill cup worth of it the night before and you're good to go. Check out the how-to at

about 8 minutes & 30 seconds in. Mix it up about as thick & sticky as mucus, and then it will thicken up even more overnight. It will keep un-refrigerated for months, long as you have a tight top on your pill cup.

Whats the consistency of your glue? I play around with it but haven't zeroed in yet. On many videos of factories or cuban hand rolls it looks like its very solid and waxy. I've been using gum arabic but it seems like there's not much wiggle wood between watery and goopy

Mine is like gravy at room temperature. I think I'm using guar gum. It might be xanthan gum, but I think it's guar. I put it in an unlabeled bottle a couple years ago.

I use guar gum. I think it's at least as good as the glue that we get with wrapper leaves from WLT, but has the not insignificant benefit of being something I can readily buy locally at a grocery store.
Question on Guar Gum: is it normal that at ambient temperature the glue gets back to a more 'liquid' state? Do I have to put it in freezer if I want to use it a couple of days?
Thanks
Mauro

i have never had that issue. I use Bob’s Red Mill Guar gum, and it stays pretty consistent.

From what I can determine, Terni averages about 70% relative humidity in November. Since all gums are hygroscopic (attract water), the greater the amount of cigar glue applied, the more likely it will be to become moist in high ambient humidity. Try using less of the guar gum on each cigar, or store the cigars in a drier (perhaps heated) location.

Thanks @Jb00 and @deluxestogie. You are right Bob, RH is high and it averages 62 inside. I have this effect inside the small glass where I keep the glue, nothing noticing on cigars (for the moment).
Will try to keep a fresh mix of glue well closed.

Just preparing for the inevitable when I run out of glue. I like the consistency, hold, no flavor that has been included in orders at WLT. I usually throw the whole sample (gum powder) in with some microwaved distilled water. I use a toothpick to stir, the. throw plastic wrap over the top for at least 30 min. After 30 min, stir again and either use or add more water. I have found that I don’t mind if being more “watered down” as long as it gets the job done. I have found that 1 WLT glue sample pack lasts me for about 30-40 cigars.

I’m leaning towards trying one or both of Guar Gum
& Gum Tragacanth. I see that there has been some posts that some out there like:

Gum Tragacanth- This seems like a great option for tasteless, maximum hold, and won’t leave glue smears on wrappers... (Please correct me if I’m wrong)
LorAnn Oils Gum Tragacanth - 2.7 oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00153FXH...abc_N2C2FXHW3X79A0NSK1G9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Guar Gum- Another great option. Tasteless, good hold, use sparingly as it can mold relatively quickly... depending on your ambient conditions.
Anyone use this one?
Bob's Red Mill Guar Gum, 08 Oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078T5MJ6...abc_8PR07PKT2HQB089VPMP0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I am one who is willing to try both, as I believe there may be different intricacies of each type that one would prefer over another or... it’s a wash. I see lots of different brands of both and am hoping to find something that won’t leave stains, flavors, or undesired smells. Any additional insights that have not already been shared? (I think I’ve read over this specific post 3-4 times already. Lol)

What I like the most is Gum-Tragacanth 8 to 1.
I've used a synthetic type termed CMC/Tylo/Tylose powder used to make fondant. It is less expensive. I find it stringy or slimy and not as efficient.
Bermocoll 320 is popular. I have not tried it.

I'll say use food grade.
There is use in leather edging and some less expensive listings in bulk that are fondant ready mix loaded with sugar to stay away from.

Hey @MarcL!

I saw thatGum-Tragacanth, does that come in powder or gel? Stringy & slimy doesn’t sound like it would help much. Sounds like a mess waiting to happen!
