It's so nice to not have to do anything with all this leaf, until I feel like it. I'll need the shed space starting in mid to late July. Most of the shed is filled with leaf on the stalk.
You are lucky to have a shed like this !
In my climate, if I leave any leaf in the shed (or in my garage) after mi-november it becomes nothing but mold in a few days.

I mark one stick for each 4-pack of my 1020 tray inserts. They are labeled on both front and back, so that regardless of how the tray is rotated, I can read the label. I make up similar sticks for the veggies that need to be started indoors.

Years ago, I used simple abbreviations for labels. After growing 100+ varieties, and having to go and look up what I had started, I now just spend the time once, to write the unambiguous varietal name on the sticks (e.g. Prilep 66-9/7, since I have seed for more than one Prilep variety).

Although I'm not quite ready to start germination, I've completed the final step prior to doing that. Each of the 8 ounce plastic germination cups (Ball freezer jars, with no drain holes) has been filled with my seedling mix, making sure to match the labeled caps to the labeled jars.

I fill them nearly to the brim, then tap them to settle the mix, leaving about ¾ to 1 inch of head space. After snapping the above photo, and taking the camera back inside, I screwed on that final lid. Snap! The jar cracked.

I've reused these same jars for years, maybe eight years or longer. Since they are somewhat exposed to unintended sunlight, and because the plastic is not treated to slow its degradation from sunlight, they do eventually crack. I still have bunches of them, since I germinated 43 varieties during one season. So I just switched the Corojo 99 jar label to a happier jar, and dumped the seedling mix into it.

I drove to Walmart just after sunrise this morning. Hoarders are everywhere. I had to fight off a 6 year old who wanted 12" Fuzzy Sticks (pipe cleaners) for some silly craft project. Now I'm all set to be locked down for several months, should that happen. Plenty of finished tobacco of all sorts, 500 Fuzzy Sticks, 15 BIC lighters, seedling mix components, 10-10-10 low Chlorine fertilizer, imidacloprid, and all the seed I intend to grow this season. What else could a person possibly need?

Toilet paper! The insanity has reached the Austin area. Went to the grocery store today to grab something to fix for dinner and some TP, as we are low due to “miscommunication” on the grocery list. No meat, eggs, dairy, toilet paper (or any paper products), flour... etc to be found anywhere. So, backup plan: 100% organic and carbon neutral. Besides, does anyone really like to eat it? Told the wife it’s either this or pick her least favorite t-shirt... :ROFLMAO:

Kale works. Arugula is too small. And avocados...well, never mind. It's the wrong time of year here, but Wooly Mullein is rather nice. Another serious alternative is to purchase 20 or 30 cotton wash cloths or cloth diapers, and wash them--just like with an infant in the house.

Most stores are restocking the paper products regularly. For the time being, there is ample supply of paper products, but the distribution rates have yet to catch up with the demand flow. Try going the instant they open in the morning.

Keeping myself from touching my face.

Well, well, well. I'm well. Today, I clipped my fingernails, measured my blood pressure, checked the oil, transmission fluid, coolant, steering fluid and brake fluid levels on my car. I walked out to my shed, to say hello to my 2019 crop, which was not quite in high enough case to begin stripping from the stalks. I did some writing, checked bunches of news outlets on my computer, and fixed myself some lunch. Hmmm. No spammers on the forum. Lots of stuff for a codger to do at home.

I can't wait until the kiln water needs to be refilled. That was a nice change of pace yesterday, but it's not due for a refill again until Friday. Gotta check and see if the toilets need scrubbing again. Eventually, I realize that I will be forced to vacuum the carpets--in a fun way, of course.

My son, in Alabama, has been grousing about his boss not allowing him time off to come up here and visit. That business (a restaurant) just shut down this morning, but I won't allow him and his family to travel up here. Maybe I'll start my tobacco germination a few days ahead of my current schedule. I could always rearrange the two chairs on my porch.

On top of homework for university, I did a bit of cigar rolling, bunching 17 short filler cigars, and some food preservation. I have a few 25lb bags of beans--navy, pinto, and black--so I pressure cooked a small portion of them, filling 10 quart jars so they are ready to go. I also ventured out as I needed to go to the bank today, and stopped by the local butcher shop to get bacon and ham. I also canned 4.5lbs of ham.

The bank was kinda sketchy.
