That is actual daylight savings. I haven't even owned a TV for the past 5 years. My only functional radio is the one in the car.I turned my TV and radio off
You'll probably laugh, but I like it when it's summer time (I don't sleep much), but when we get back to "normal" time, in the morning, I have an extra hour for smoking and coffee. Here in Virginia, late tonight is the moment of our semi-annual Jedi Daylight Shifting Trick (DST). In past years, twice a year, it has taken my body about two weeks to adjust to the sudden change in media programming schedules and store hours. And I have 8 devices that require manual resetting of their displayed time. Mercifully, my phone and my laptop computer just take care of it on their own.
This year, I decided on a new approach. For the past 6 days, I have advanced the timing of pills, meals, bedtime, etc., by 10 minutes each day, while essentially ignoring media programming and retail hours. So tonight, when I go through the annoying process of resetting my various clocks, I will already be on tomorrow's schedule. An important aspect of making this physiologic transition is to allow myself to get not quite enough sleep each of my shifted nights this week.

"The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.” ~ Thomas JeffersonThat is actual daylight savings. I couldn't agree more with Bob, all he forgot was addutainment about things we don't need or want.In Jefferson's day, "newspapers" had just become a thing, and were notoriously inaccurate, partisan and sensationalistic. He wasn't praising ignorance, but rather commenting on the reliability of the source. And yes, today, most TV programming is notoriously inaccurate, partisan and sensationalistic, consisting of mostly entertainment, sportsutainment and opinion. i.e. a waste of time.

Could also be true in the sense that all the news, even if accurate and unbiased (cough), is ephemeral and nothing but thoughts and ideas which distract from the marvel and wonder of daily life.In Jefferson's day, "newspapers" had just become a thing, and were notoriously inaccurate, partisan and sensationalistic.
