Yeah me too. But more Micrometers than Calipers.
At the moment I make parts for Damian Chrysler (used to be Freight Liner)
Before that I made parts for Boeing for 25 years. Before that Renton Boiler Works and so on and so on.
That's about all I have done is work CNC Milling Machines and what not.

I transplanted them out side today they were all ready in the same dirt as the patch.
I started them in Peat Moss pads then put those in Styrofoam cups of dirt from my patch.
They have been next to a window under a T5 grow light all the time they were inside so the transition isn't
that big of a change temperature wise.
Last year they grew just fine
The year before that I started them in planters and just put them in the ground when the
weather got warm enough. And the year before that I just grew one inside all year.

last year i moved some of mine from the planter straight to the garden,,,,

and they grew just as good as the ones i had spent a lot of time and effort on, and placed in cups,,,,

i guess it's up to the grower on how they go from tray to soil????

The soil was amended per my soil test with Potash , lime and nitrogen
The source of nitrogen I came up with is Nitrate of soda
anything else is a fortune around here and that stuff really works good
The 2nd dose of Nitrogen is 3 to 4 weeks after transplanting that's per the
soil analysis people or May 28th to June 4th half the amount as the first dose.
Then half that amount if needed 3 or 4 weeks later depending on plant growth and thats it.

Hey dkh2, I think you posted your soil test somewhere but I can't find it. What is your sodium level of your soil? I'd be a little concerned about adding Sodium Nitrate without knowing what your sodium level is.
