I live in a state that banned flavored tobacco. From time to time, I enjoy some Copenhagen LC Wintergreen. But, it has been banned and all that’s left to choose from are Natural and Straight.

I bought some LorAnn Wintergreen flavoring. My plan is to add it to a tin of Copenhagen Natural LC. I’ve looked on their website and on Google but I can’t seem to find an answer to how many drops to use to dilute it in water or a carrier liquid. Also, I’ve been thinking about adding a sweetener like sucralose to balance out the flavor because Copenhagen Natural to me is salty.

So, I hope someone can point me in the right direction for diluting the wintergreen oil and if adding a sweetener is a bad idea.

Thank you for your time.

I make my own flavored dip from time to time, usually cinnamon though. It enhances a nice warm burny tingle. In this blend I use .75ml of LorAnn oil per ounce of raw tobacco. Wintergreen might differ slightly in strength but just start at .5/Oz and work your way up. Just my opinion but if you are thinking about adding sweetener maybe try this experiment with "straight" not as salty and the sweet is already there.

Thank you for your reply. Good information. As far as getting the oil into the snuff…could i just get a mini spray bottle and spritz the oil evenly on top and then shake it vigorously? Or, do I need to dilute the oil into a carrier liquid like propolyne glycol then add it to semi dry tobacco so not to overhydrate it. I think if I just spritz the dip the way it is, I could skip this “pre-drying” step.

Sorry if this might be common sense I just never did it before and want to make sure I don’t make a stupid mistake. Thx.

While making it at home flavoring isn't typically added until after the tobacco is done cooking so a commercial bought can is near the same thing. Given the small quantities involved with the oil I just use a medicine or eye dropper then mix it up real good and let it rest overnight.

Ok. I’m going to pick up a tin of Copenhagen Straight and do this science experiment tomorrow. Thank you for your input and I’ll post how it turns out.

Good luck, I think you will be surprised how potent those oils really are.
Ok, so I ended up using .6 ml of McCormick Mint Extract to one can Copenhagen LC Straight and shook it up in a Tupperware container adding a couple of drops at a time until the ideal concentration was obtained. I’m pleasantly surprised how good it turned out.

The flavor possibilities are
There are some pretty good ideas in this. I make a homemade cinnamon natural that gets good reviews for the samples I give out.
