Good news or Bad news...depends on your situation

There are a total of 11 Powermatic S tobacco shredders left on the face of the earth (good or bad?). The good/bad news is there is another model coming out in February. The good news is this model is supposed to be more powerful than the most recent. The bad news is it has never been tested. Since the newest model has come out, I have not had a single return or complaint. That doesn't mean there haven't been any problems with the newest model...I just haven't heard of any. Just about every original model had problems, so I have no idea what to expect from this new model.

There is no word on what the new shredder will cost.

I was going to buy a new one last time my broke.
When I talked to Chris at powermatic and he told me about the redesigned machine and improvements made I figured I would hold off and try the new one out.
Sounds like a winner but I could not convince him to put stainless steel cutter blades in it.

It sounds like good news Don. I haven't noticed a need for extra power. I de-stem as I shred and can only feed one leaf at a time this way. I suppose the extra power will just mean less load on the motor and longer life.

Hopefully it is a collection of improvements and not a complete redesign of a good unit with new bugs to figure out.

I do not recall all the improvements,but they are addresing the twist, Flexing prob. which loosens screws when you jamb the machine. Gears were mentioned and something about the cutter head.
Don might know more.

Workin on a better mouse trap means they must be makein a profit. Sounds like very good news. New toys!
