Got charged duties/taxes for whole leaf tobacco - suggestions needed

In the BC BST thead someone mentioned they were supplying friends. I think that has always been a no go in the eyes and intent of the laws and they have been lucky not to be audited before now! I do give the odd cigarette away, but I never accept any thing for it because that would be outside the law. I do shred ahead...I think it is a kilogram, but I always keep it in mind. But it sure does seem like they are really adamant about this in BC and enforcing it beyond the intent of the law. I just hope it doesn't come our way! On the bright side...my natural gas bill is much more palatable this month without the ill conceived carbon tax

I recall that post. I do believe it would be within the spirit of the law to have the exchange without any profit. I also know that Indigenous people are even allowed to exchange tobacco when they reach 16yo

You are probably absolutely right about the spirit of the law...but to avoid any hint of wrong doing even though my son and I have worked together...he would order and pay once, I would order and pay next...also because I'm paranoid about going over the annual limit which I think is like 15kg!

I am not sure what BC is doing. Only people that live there can explain what is happening.
