Good afternoon,

I am based in Zambia and decided to extend my plant growing to tobacco this year. I have a lot of experience with vegetables and fruits, but tobacco will be a first.

I'm starting with 30 Burley seeds in Jiffy plugs. Most of them have sprouted between day 3 and 6, but the colydons hasn't formed yet. I am watching them carefully. As soon as I get them to get going, I want to start with 300 odd seedlings in June to be ready to be planted out in August. Mix of Burley, Virginia and I also got some Mapacho. As soon as the first true leaves form I am going to start including some kelp to boost root growth.

Remember we are in the Southern Hemisphere.

I will start a blog a bit later. My first cotyledons are appearing, and the plants are looking healthy. I'm starting to put them directly in the window sill and not just giving artificial light anymore.

This weekend, I will do another 40-odd plantings for testing purposes before the big planting in June/July.
