Ie I missed this last post. More or less changes can be added so we can get a notification. Someone making a bigger order can be notified. Ie with this new thing. Could have been a rush of orders. Ie this year who knows what will happen. I missed out last year by waiting the last minute to get back from the hockey game. It at least allows Canadians to get updated

I wonder if renting a PO box or having your mail sent to a post office in a different province would be possible...
Fed-ex, Canada post etc, don't allow for tobacco products. I'm not sure if those Mail forwarding places adhere to their policies or not.

I was under the impression that shipping to Canada from WLT was done through Canada Post (there is even a notice about their current strike on WLT). AFAIU, whole leaf tobacco is labeled as "produce" (or something like that, I forget the correct term), rather than "tobacco product" which is "transformed tobacco".

Still, that doesn't guarantee, as you imply, that they will allow shipping this to PO boxes.

Shipping from outside of Canada is okay but shipping within provinces is limited.
I was referring to P.O box from one province to another sending tobacco products using CP.

I did some more digging and found this info.

Canada post.

Tobacco products are non-mailable from one province or territory to another unless the:
  • Shipment is between manufacturers or retailers
  • Shipment is between two consumers
  • Mailer is otherwise expressly permitted by federal law to mail the products from one province or territory to another
What about retailers to consumer ?? Didn't find anything about that and it is weird since I sometimes order cigars from a company out east.

As for WLT to P.O box using CP I don't know.
WLT to P.O box, then P.O box from province to another province (consumer) using canada post I don't know either. (Retailer to consumer within provinces ?)

I'm going to look into it a bit more.

Fed-Ex

We prohibit the shipping of tobacco and tobacco products
. Even if you have proper licenses and are authorized to ship tobacco products, we will be unable to accept your shipment.Tobacco and all tobacco products cannot be accepted at any FedEx or FedEx Office location

Purolator

Courier Shipments within Canada

Will not accept:
Tobacco or alcohol, inter-provincial/state
(i.e., across provincial/state boundaries).

Whole leaf isn't tobacco. I posted the link and the scare but it's only on packaged whole leaf. Right now with the dollar and the Native cigarette market it's almost cheaper to go back to the bag product. Smoking now is like you are being discriminated against.

Decided to try this experiment, since I'm desperate and ran out of leaf I ordered 7pds whole leaf to a Calgary mailbox service with the intention of them forwarding it to me in BC.
As of yesterday it went through Canadian customs in Ontario, Tax assessed $60 duty + GST/HST + customs fee = $86 and on its way to Calgary.
Calgary Mail box service forwarding fee $20.
Shipping to Vancouver ??? I don't have the dimensions of the package so I'll wait for it to get there and for them to let me know.
I just thought of this now and asking WLT for package dimensions.

It's not the most cost effective way but the only way I see this possible unless getting a mule to bring it over.

I'll update on final delivery status and total cost in a few days.

At least for the Canadian Virginia Someone can legally arrange shipping so it comes from Canada instead of coming across the border twice. It's legal to ship within Canada and to buy whole leaf.

From Calgary to Vancouver, mail box forwarding shipping and handling costs $61.58 and should be here in 2 days ground.
Total cost for 7pds all included $497CAD.

So there you go, a way for BC folks to get whole leaf from WLT for an additional $62 for mailbox forwarding.
I don't know how customs calculate $60 for duty but I won't rock the boat and leave it like that.

PM for more details if you want.

Enjoy it while you can I guess. It's getting unreal with tariffs. Now it's trying to find Canadian sources for me anyhow. 21,99 a pound with duty and exchange is 450 dollars Canadian for 12lbs. With the sale is the only way to cut costs and have urged pipe smokers that is the time to get in and try it. For me that is when I will buy leaf to keep that in mind for the next time.
