All organic i dont have money for fert i make compost chicken manure and pig guts for njtrogen let it rot a few mnths the veggies love it i figure baccy will to. Everything wil be air cured . Im buying from sustainable seed what a selection.

Varieties are burley21, golden burley, harrow velvet, costello , orinoco, aztec, isleta pueblo. Mohawk, delgold, and african red . All chosen for potency and/or ease of curing and aging. I like a smoke ya gotta sit down to be ready for .

Was also thinkin of buying from the heirloom tobacco guy smokinhawks looks like a good selection too. Havin alot of fun and aint even got any thing planted yet.

I thought I would want the most potent stuff out there at first. After smoking a lot of it I find that while I still enjoy a stronger cigarette than most people I know, there is plenty of nicotine in a really tasty and smooth cigarette for me.

I suggest trying the cigarette sampler from www.wholeleaftobacco.com to help you decide what you like and what you want to grow for cigarettes. I like a fairly strong cigarette but I don't like a harsh anything. You may want to smooth up some of your choices with Virginia and some Turkish.
Your fertilizer selection looks fine.

i just ordered my first whole leaf from leaf only thing is they dont have some of the more unusual stuff like rustica . I figure ill add some tukish virginia and maryland if i need to lighten it up it was just too many seeds for the first timee around and i gotta make sure i get enough of the rela-X factor from my first harvest. That sampler does look good i didnt see that site yet , thanks.

The owner of the whole leaf site is Don (FmGrowit). He's the founder of this forum. A really nice guy with really great leaf. There is a post on here from someone that bought from LeafOnly that wan't too happy with it. If that's the case with yours, don't give up until you've tried Don's. His is the best out there.

im not too happy bout LO i bought 1 lb of avfc and the .5lb was nearly dust and pieces . is the sampler from WLT "WHOLE" leaf
,but since forum is great ima support the forum and buy from WLT on all my bacci needs

He must have shipped it low case. You should weigh it and demand the difference. Leaf should be shipped low enough case to arrive intact but not so high the vendor is ripping you off by selling you water. It's one of those things the guys here take very seriously because they know any shot at repeat business just died over a couple bucks. So far my orders have always been a bakers dozen mindset leaving me very happy and ready to place another order. There is enough competition that LO should be more careful of losing customers

Here's some of Don's leaf. He sends it in vapor proof bags. From left to right - one lb. Turkish Izmir, 4 lbs Burley, 3 lbs Dark Air Cured, 6 lbs Virginia flue cured. It is whole leaf and in excellent shape for shredding.

My smoke from homegrown saves me a bundle And I try not to bounce of the walls to much considering my ability to adjust my nic intake.

sounds like your on track for a good grow,

but i would stronglly suggest you make a curing chamber, it will help get that '' harshness'' out quick,,, vs. just letting it air dry,

and SHREDDING your leaf to cigg. size, will be a issue, thier has been a lot of home-made creations to shred bacca with,

you may want to try and make you something, or purchase a POWERMATIC shredder, but if money is tight, you may want to make something,,, you-tube has videos of all kinds of creations, perhaps one you see, is something that is made from materials you can put toghter,

but the shredding part to me, is the most difficult of the whole process,

so i purchased a powermatic, it's a good investment, if you plan on growing your own bacca each year as i do,

Would a curing chamber be same as a kiln ? Ya dont mean flue cured right?

• flue-cure chamber = ramping heat from 93 to 185ºF over a 5 day period; start with green leaf; also called bright cure; common in cigarette and pipe tobacco
• fire-curing chamber = exposure of green or color-cured leaf directly to the smoke of an open fire x 3 weeks to 3 months
• curing shed or barn = any place in which to hang green leaf for many weeks to color cure (and possibly for years to age) that is sheltered from wind and rain.
